This really isn't a cross over between Darkwing Duck and the Extreme Ghostbusters. It's more of a:

Fly by

By Icka! M. Chif

"DA-ad" Gosalyn groused from the back of the Ratcatcher. "We're *lost*!"

"We are not lost!" Darkwing Duck retorted. The streets had only been unfamiliar for an hour or so. "We are merely taking the scenic route home."

He could feel the glare his adopted daughter was giving him on the back of his neck. "Uh-uh. Sure Dad. And that bright flash of light before we got lost was just lightening."

"As much as I hate to say it, I think Gos is right." Launchpad spoke up from the sidecar, voice slightly muffled by the large piece of paper that was plastered to his face. He peeled the paper off and peered at it again. "I can't find an 'Empire State Building' any where on this map."

"Uh, Launchpad? You're holding it upside down." Gosalyn's best friend, Honker Muddlefoot said quietly from behind her on the bike. Honker was always quiet.

"Oh." Launchpad flipped the map right side up and examined it again. "Nope. Still no 'Empire State Building' on the map. Sure that's what the sign on the building said?"

"Positive." Gos growled.

"Just checking to make sure it wasn't an 'Umpire' or anything like that."

"It was 'Empire'." Darkwing seethed, speeding around a corner.

"Maybe we should ask for directions." Honker suggested.

"We don't need directions!" Darkwing snapped. "I know exactly where we're going!"

Gosalyn rolled her eyes and muttered under her breath, "To heaven if we change our ways."

"I heard that!"

"Hey, DW. I'm beginning to think we're not in St. Canard anymore." Launchpad said nervously. "None of these street names are even remotely familiar. Who ever heard of 'Lexington'?"

"Well, we're not in Kansas either..."

"GOSALYN! One more crack like that young lady, and you are grounded!"

"Aw, Da-ad!"

"Don't 'Aw, Dad' me-"

Honker cut off Darkwing's rant before he could get too warmed up in it. "You could ask those guys over there. They look like they know their way around."

He pointed to 4 people wearing strange looking backpacks coming out of what looked like a souped up ambulance. One of them, the girl, slowly waved something in the air, then pointed. The 4 then charged in the direction that she pointed.

"Fine." Darkwing pulled a quick U-turn, forcing them all to hang on for dear life, and pulled up behind the strange car. "I will be right back. Don't move." He thrust his helmet at Gosalyn, who easily caught it, before storming off into the dark alley with a swirl of his cape.

"You sure it came this way, Ky? I'm not seeing anything." Garrett said looking around the dark alley. They had gotten a call about a free-floating class three.

"Positive. Faint but definite imitations from this area." Kylie reported, never removing her eyes from the PKE meter.

Whoosh! A cloud of purple smoke appeared over their heads. "I am the terror that flaps in the night! I am the ghoul that- ACK!"

"Three!" They fired into the smoke, cutting off the voice.

Darkwing ducked as the funny looking people with the strange packs open fire on him. Deciding discretion really was the better part of valour; he pulled a rapid Snagglepuss, (Exit, stage right!) and disappeared back into the shadows, using the smoke to disguise his exit. And people had laughed when he started to use smoke canisters for his entrances.

"Duck?!" Roland exclaimed.

Immediately, Kylie and Eduardo hit the dirt, shutting off the beams as Garrett crouched down in his chair. Roland looked at them in confusion and turn off his beam as well.

"What are you doing?"

"You said to duck!" Garrett said, lowering his arms from their protective position over his head.

"No, it looked like a giant duck in a purple cape." Roland explained shaking his head.

Eduardo gave him a suspicious look. "I think somebody's been watching too many Saturday cartoons, and it wasn't me, man!"

"I'm serious! I caught a glimpse of it just before the smoke dissipated. It looked like a... a giant humanoid duck with a large bill dressed in a cape!"

"Well, what ever it was, it's not there now." Kylie said, waving the meter in the direction of the fire escape the smoke had appeared from. "But I'm getting traces from farther down the alley."

"Then let's... get... Dangerous!" Garrett cheered.

They all stopped in their tracks and looked at him like he had just sprouted feathers.

"What?" He shrugged. "It was the first thing I could think of."

"Yeah. Sure, dude." Eduardo made a patting motion in mid air. "What ever you say."

Garrett shook his head. "Let's just nab this spook before anything else weird happens."

**************************************

"Did you get the directions, DW?" Launchpad asked eagerly as Darkwing came storming out of the alley, slapping his hat to extinguish the small fire that had started on the top of it. He glared at his sidekick.

"The natives were decidedly unfriendly." He replied curtly as he got on the bike. Gosalyn hid a giggle as she put out the small flame on the end of the cape. Darkwing stuck his helmet on, revved the Ratcatcher's engine and tore off down the street.

"And we are not asking for any more directions!" Was the last thing Darkwing had to say on the subject.

Garrett glanced out the window of the Ecto-1 as they neared the firehouse. Finally. He couldn't wait to get out of the car. A loud 'vrrrrrmmmm' caught his attention and he glanced over to see who it was. A funny looking fuchsia motorcycle with a duckbill on over the front tire was roaring past. Some people had the weirdest taste, he thought dismissivly.

Then the passengers caught his eye. There were four of them. A large duck, dressed in an antique pilot's outfit, complete with pilot's cap riding in the sidecar. Two smaller kids? ducklings? rode on the back of the body of it, one a girl with bright red hair and the other a bookish looking goose boy with glasses. Driving the strange contraption was a duck with a large bill dressed all in violet, complete with... purple cape.

Garrett rubbed his eyes, thinking he was seeing things. He checked again. Yep. Fuchsia motorcycle, funny looking duck passengers, purple cape. They appeared to be arguing among themselves, he noted abstractly. He stared at them until they rounded a corner and disappeared. He shook his head. No way he'd seen what he thought he had just seen. Working as a Ghostbuster, he had seen some pretty strange stuff, but that didn't look like any ghost he had seen. That and ghosts usually didn't ride motorcycles, no matter how funny looking. But then, Roland's duck had a purple cape...

"Hey, guys..."

Garrett trailed off as he realized the others were off in their own little worlds. Roland was concentrating on the road as Ky and Ed argued between themselves like normal. They had couldn't have seen it. Maybe *he* hadn't seen it. He ran a hand down his face. It'd been a rough past couple of nights; he was probably starting to see things.

Yeah.

That was it. He'd get some sleep tonight...

"Um, Darkwing?" Honker said softly from his seat at the end of the Ratcatcher. Darkwing stopped arguing with Gosalyn on whether they were lost or not long enough to spare him a look.

"What is it, Honker?"

"Well, uh..., was, um..."

"Spit it out Honker!" His three companions snapped in unison.

"Was that big glowing button on your dashboard before?" Honker blurted.

Dead silence as they stared at the strange glowing button.

"I don't remember seeing that before." Launchpad finally commented, scratching his head.

"It wasn't." Darkwing growled. "That's the *last* time I leave the Ratcatcher over night at the S.H.U.S.H. R&D department!"

"Well, just press it and let's get home!" Gosalyn urged. "We're missing the Late, Late, Late, Really Late Super Scary Middle of the Night Monster Fest!"

"Fine." Darkwing grumbled. "But when we get home, you are going right to bed young lady!"

"Da-ad!"

Darkwing ignored her whining. "Brace yourselves!" he ordered, reaching for the button. "Let's... get... Dangerous!"

As Darkwing hit the button, the bike shook for a second, then glowed bright white before disappearing in a thunderclap of light. The light vanished and everything was quiet again. At least as quiet as New York City got.

The phone rang on Janine's desk. She sighed as she put down her magazine. It was past time for her to leave, but the Ghostbusters weren't back yet. And call it mother-hunnish of her, she didn't like leaving with them out on a case. That and she could blackmail one of them into a ride home if she played it right. She picked up the receiver. Hopefully this wouldn't take long.

"Ghostbusters." She said tiredly. The person rambled on hysterically for a minute or so.

"Sir? Yes, yes, calm down a moment, sir. Okay, take a deep breath. Good. Now, if they disappeared in the middle of the street, then they aren't there any more, correct? Then if they aren't there anymore, there's nothing we can do, right? Right. Okay. Well, if they come back, give us a call and we can do something about it then. But unless they come back, we can't do anything. Yeah. Goodnight, sir. " With a muffled groan, she set down the phone. Came with the job, she knew. Got a few loonies with every bunch. Just then, the doors opened and the 'Busters came in. Bout time.

"Hi, Janine." Kylie called. "Get any calls while we were out?"

"Just some nut case who claimed he saw a motorcycle riding duck in a purple cape vanish in a flash of light." She said, missing their startled expressions as she collected her gear.

"Uh... I'm gonna head home, get some sleep." Garrett said, a bit on the hesitant side. "It's been a couple of late nights."

"Yeah..." Roland agreed slowly. "I'll give you a ride home, if you'd like."

Garrett nodded. "Thanks."

"If you're heading my way, could I get a ride as well?" Janine asked.

"Sure. You set, Gar?"

Garrett nodded and the three of them headed out headed outside to Roland's car, saying goodnight as they left.

Kylie and Eduardo watched them leave. They were stuck on Night shift anyway. "Do you believe them? About the duck." Kylie asked once the door had shut.

Eduardo snorted. "Naw, man. Ghosties I can believe in. Purple cape wearing ducks driving motorcycles in the middle of the night are a *whole* different story."

Kylie frowned thoughtfully. "Yeah. Well, I've got homework to do." He nodded and she wandered off toward the library. He debated following her for a moment, then decided against it. He had his own homework he should be doing, and she'd probably just get annoyed at him. He grabbed his backpack and plopped down on sofa in front of the TV instead. The screen flickered on, then started showing a cartoon.

"Hey! Cool! Darkwing Duck!" He grinned, settling down to watch.

I'll admit it, 'Lexington' is in reference to the Gargoyle, who got his name from the street. (<GRIN> I just can't help myself!)
